In the 1960s Guinness moved equipment, manpower and a foundation stone from the Liberties to Lagos, to open a brewery in Nigeria.

The historic intersections of Ireland and Nigeria are sometimes surprising. Ireland engaged with Nigeria on a Colonial level, but then as one of the few white nations to embrace a newly independent Nigeria, when Seán Lemass attended the ceremonies honouring the new nation.
